I had been a while since I had last come in but we did lunch at this Santa Clara staple. If you're looking for a variety of delicious American foods, decently priced and a ma and pa joint feel, then this needs to be a stop for you.
I've ordered many items here during my college years but this time I went with the Linguica Sausage Sandwich. Greasy, tasty and awesome is how I describe it. I added a basket of fries and I was full, fat and happy. I have never had a bad meal and they give good portions adding to their quality with some quantity.
Service is friendly and they remember their regulars. Parking is unlimited in the back but seating can get tight at lunch time.
Overall, I enjoy coming to the Hound now as much as I did when I was a student. I recommend if you are looking for hangover food or just good diner food. I will be a repeat customer. -

Love this place.
Initially we went for a hot dog when we hand a craving but instead have ordered everything BUT the dogs, lol. Not really...get the chili cheese dog...so good.
The potato salad is yummy -

Food: delicious
Attitude: STINKS!
Have dined there quite a bit in 5 yrs, mostly to go orders. Never a complaint. Recently, ordered a sandwich, ate it as I drove home a few minutes away. More than halfway through the sandwich I found a long black hair, stuck, sitting underneath the sandwich . I immediately drove back (never having gotten out of my car at home). The older man in back (I presume, the owner) was very upset that I'd found the hair. He clearly couldn't blame me I'm blond). He asked where I found it precisely. He points to his nearly bald head and says"clearly it's not mine, I have no hair." Nevermind the only other person who works there is the lady with the long black hair is standing right next to him ringing up a customer . I said "no, you don't have hair but she does." He says "but I'm the only one who uses the grill, she doesn't make the sandwiches." Blatant lie. That lady spends most of her time back there, as you have to stand there waiting to place your order because she's in back preparing orders. She doesn't wear a hairnet (cap only), which doesn't keep hair from getting into the food unfortunately. I was actually going to request another sandwich but before I could do that he knew this was legit and aggressively says, " ok I give your money back," as he grabs the container and storms away to the kitchen! I really didn't expect this pouty child- like behavior. What did I expect? For him to say, " I'm sorry this happened. Would you like a refund or can I offer you another sandwich?" Anything other than his reaction. Geeezzz, how do you get mad at the customer for something that's clearly Your fault? People are so weird. Own your mistakes, apologize and move on! It's not that hard. But then again, it must be easier to pretend it's not your fault and blame the customer . Terrible business practice!!! -

Good food but not great. Ordered food to go and when I got back, there was no salad dressing for the salad that was ordered. They are a good portion size which is nice. Pricing is decent but also felt expensive for what was ordered. We might go back but it won't be a top pick honestly.

Grew up here....went to elementary school and college. Attitude has never changed which was cheap and limited but now I cant order anything I want on the menu. Just wanted a large order of onion rings and they said "no you need to have a meal with it." No signage saying that either, apparently spending 7 bucks on onion rings is too much for them to throw in the fryer. We have bought just onion rings before by itself not sure what changed.
